1. Agreement and operator
These Terms of Service govern your use of the DevPhrase mobile app, training service, and website. DevPhrase is operated by Zhao Heng, an individual developer based in mainland China. By creating an account, accepting these Terms in the app, or using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Do not use DevPhrase if you do not agree.
2. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. You must use a recoverable email account before starting your first actual training session. DevPhrase does not provide anonymous sign-in as a fallback for an actual training session. Keep your device and account access secure, provide accurate information when reasonably needed for support, and do not use another person's account or access their records.
3. The service
DevPhrase is an English technical-interview speaking practice tool. It lets you record an answer, receive a transcript and AI-generated structured coaching during the training flow, keep selected training history, and compare direct Retry attempts. DevPhrase V1 is free. It does not offer advertising, subscriptions, paid features, or purchase restoration.
4. Your content
You retain any rights you have in your recordings, answers, and other content you submit. You grant DevPhrase the limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, transmit, process, reproduce temporarily, and display that content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and support the service, including transcription, feedback, history, and Retry comparison.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content. Do not submit another person's private, confidential, personal, or proprietary information without authorization.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use DevPhrase to break the law or to interfere with other people or the service. In particular, you must not:
- submit unlawful, infringing, abusive, deceptive, or harmful content;
- attempt to bypass account controls, rate limits, or security protections;
- probe, reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or another user's information;
- introduce malicious code or use harmful automated access; or
- use DevPhrase in a way that violates applicable law or another person's rights.
6. AI feedback and important limits
Transcripts, scores, suggestions, improved answers, and other AI-generated feedback can be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your circumstances. Review the output and use your own judgment. DevPhrase does not guarantee a particular score, interview result, job opportunity, hiring decision, promotion, or other employment outcome. It is not an employer, recruiter, credentialing body, legal adviser, or professional adviser.
7. Service changes, suspension, and ending access
We may change, suspend, or discontinue part of the service when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance, provider availability, or product operations. We may restrict or end access for a material breach of these Terms, abusive use, or a reasonable need to protect users, providers, or the service. You may stop using DevPhrase at any time and may delete your account through the app.
8. Intellectual property
DevPhrase's software, interface, brand, and service materials are protected by applicable law. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable right to use the service in accordance with these Terms. They do not transfer ownership of DevPhrase or grant a right to use its name or materials outside the service.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, DevPhrase is provided on an as-available basis. We do not promise uninterrupted service, error-free operation, preservation of every record, or accurate AI output. To the extent permitted by applicable law, DevPhrase is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or business opportunities arising from use of the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, limits, or waives liability, consumer protection, privacy, or other rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude, limit, or waive.
10. Applicable law and disputes
Applicable law governs these Terms and any dispute to the extent it requires a particular law, forum, or consumer protection to apply. Please contact us first at support@devphrase.com so we can try to address the issue. This is not a mandatory arbitration agreement, and these Terms do not require a class-action waiver or take away a right to bring a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
